Zoe Anna Howe Kelly

July 13, 1947 — April 26, 2023

Mt. Lebanon

Zoe Anna Howe Kelly, a wonderful mother, daughter, and sister, passed away at home, surrounded by her family and friends, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Zoe was born on July 13, 1947, in Evanston, IL.  At the age of 6, her family moved to Mt. Lebanon, PA.  She was graduated from Mt. Lebanon Senior High School in 1965, attended the University of Tennessee, and received a BA from Point Park College.

As a stay-at-home-mom for the early part of her sons’ lives, Zoe was an amazing and loving mother.  She and her mother enjoyed traveling extensively with the boys when they were young, and she instilled in them a love of exploring new places and cultures.  Two summer long road trips, one around much of the United States and the other in Eastern Canada, were the highlights of their adventures and the topic of many family stories.  She loved spending time at the beach, particularly the Outer Banks and Kiawah Island.  A proud and engaged grandmother, Zoe enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved animals and was also a dedicated mother to all her precious companion dogs over the years.

In her professional life, Zoe spent almost 40 years in the real estate closing world in Pittsburgh, where she earned the respect of countless real estate agents, bankers, and buyers and sellers.  She even started her own closing agency, Front Porch Settlements, with her son, Jonathan, in 2021.  Zoe was also an active member of BNI of Western Pennsylvania.  She was also heavily involved in each of the churches that she attended during her life.

Zoe is survived by her sons, Justin Howe Kelly (Courtney) and Jonathan Holman Kelly (Jennifer); brother, John David Howe, II; brother-in-law, Van Cullens; grandchildren, Gregory, Everett, Adeline, Margaret, Bo, and Anna; nieces and nephews, Janine Hensler (John Murphy), Zoe MacKenny (Derek), Eric Garcia (Carrie), and John David Howe, III (Tracy); and great nieces and nephews, Chloe and Ella MacKenney, Jordan and John D. Howe, and Sienna, Naomi, and Gabriel Garcia. She was preceded in death by her parents, John David Howe and Virginia Carlson Howe, and her sister, Virginia Jane Cullens.
