Age 91, of Pittsburgh on Monday, March 4, 2013. Beloved husband for 65 years of Betty; dear father of Christine Saalbach, (daughter, Margaret Ann Martin), Pamela (husband, Mark Schleicher) Saalbach, and Frederick Saalbach; brother of the late Carl P. (wife, Claire) Saalbach. Friends welcome to a Memorial Service in the Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Saalbach, an author, teacher, commentator, management consultant, and editor. He received a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, a Master's degree in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Economics. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. His five volume textbook series titled "The Consumer and the American Economy" was used by secondary schools throughout the country. Mr. Saalbach retired in 1982 as head of the Economics Department at Washington & Jefferson College. Inurnment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA was private.
