William (Bill) E. McNulty

William (Bill, Billy, $ Bill, Mac) E. McNulty, age 80, native of Mt. Washington, passed away peacefully early morning on Friday, November 14 after complications from a recent stroke. Beloved son of the late Michael and Bridget McNulty (Connolly). Beloved brother of late siblings Fr. James (Jimmy) McNulty; Mary Therese (Steve Moughalian); Michael (Mickey), Jr.; Margaret (Peg) Rozanski; and Eileen (Jerry Haas). Beloved father of and is survived by Kelly, Shannon (Thomas Pine), Tara (Maurice Forte), and Ryan (Lori Dunlay). Beloved Grandpa Mac to Alyssa Pine, Madelyn (Maddie) Pine, Elijah (Eli) McNulty, Emmett Forte, Phoebe Forte, and Mason McNulty. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in the US, Ireland, and England.
William was a graduate of St. Mary of the Mount grade school and high school. He was drafted and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 and is a decorated Vietnam Veteran who earned a Bronze Star. Aside from his military time, he was a lifelong Pittsburgher. He primarily worked in the carpentry and building trades as a member of Lathers Local 33 with his brother Mickey. He loved sports and played softball in Mt. Washington as a pitcher well into his 40’s, and also coached girls’ softball. He enjoyed golfing, playing poker, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and was a member of the Duquesne Maennerchor Club. He had a strong, unique personality and sense of humor and was a relentless fighter.
Family and friends are welcome for a viewing at WM. SLATER & SONS INC. (412-381-3345) 301 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington 15211 on Sunday, November 23 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Mount on Monday, November 24 at 10:00 AM. The mass will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend. A celebration of life lunch for family and close friends will immediately follow the mass. A burial ceremony at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be planned for a future date.
