86, of Mt. Lebanon, on Monday, October 7, 2013. Beloved husband of Emily Setticase Heckman; dear father of Linda (Bill) Test, James (Jeanne) Heckman, Janice (Michael) Namey; stepfather of Fran (late Paul) Soczik, Connie (Dan) Hart, and Joe (Marlene) Setticase; brother of Joseph (Veda) Heckman, Harold (Kay) Heckman, Robert (Jean) Heckman, Louise LaFace, and the late Ethel Locker; grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mr. Heckman was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having retired with 23 years of service. He fought in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Wars and was a Navy Recruiter. After retiring he drove a tractor trailer for Freeport Transport and Don Acme Coal Co. and worked for Eye To Eye Optical. He was former president and longtime secretary of Hilltop Lions Club, Apollo Lodge No. 437 F & A.M., Allegheny County Sheriff's Reserve, and past president of the Fleet Reserve Association. Friends welcome Tuesday 4-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. Service Thursday 10:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1700 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, donations requested to the Wounded Warriors Project, 301 Grant Street, Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or to a veterans charity of choice .
