William F. Oxenreiter, Jr.
Age 94, of Mt. Lebanon, on Friday, August 19, 2016, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband for nearly 65 years of Jeanne Rainey Oxenreiter. Dear and devoted father of Jeanne, William III (Renate), Joanne Fallon (Bill), Janet Donahue (Bill), Judith Kozorra (Jack), John (Carol), Albert (Karen), Mary Beth Gordon (Bill), Amy Beiersdorf (Ron), Thomas (Emily), Matthew (Mary Ellen), and Mark (Colleen). Also adored by 33 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Elizabeth, and his sister, Elizabeth Downey.
Born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Bill was an active lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Church, where his parents and uncle were founding members. He graduated from St. Bernard Grade School, Mt. Lebanon High School, and received his undergraduate and masters degrees from Duquesne University. Bill served for over three years in the Army Air Corps in North Africa during World War II. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Phi Fraternity, Duquesne University chapter, and many of his fraternity brothers remained lifelong friends. He was a partner at McClure-Johnston Company until it was sold in 2012. Bill and his wife traveled extensively, but his favorite trips were annual vacations with his family to Stone Harbor, N.J. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching Duquesne University basketball and Mt. Lebanon High School football games, and was a spotter for Steelers home games for 48 seasons. Bill's faith and family were central to his life. He was kind, humble, quick-witted, and known for his sense of humor. His was the epitome of a life well-lived.
