William (Bill) Wade Dixon

d. January 17, 2021

Age 82, of Duquesne Heights/Mt. Washington, passed away due to complications of COVID 19 on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Born on May 14, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to Wade Dixon and Marie Dixon, brother of Nancy Long. Bill is survived by his children, Peter (Anita), Dorene (Paige Forrest), Curtis (Lisa), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Bill, an Army veteran and member of the Masonic Lodge, had an intense love of his family, friends, the Steelers, the neighborhood of Mt. Washington, and the Duquesne Maennerchor Club. He loved gathering with his friends and family to watch Steelers games, yelling "Yeah baby!" after every big play. His monthly drives to Erie, where he was known as "Mr. Nice Guy" and "The Governor" to visit dear friends were always a highlight of his conversations. He had many friends in Pittsburgh and throughout the country who he maintained contact with. He loved to golf and continued to go even after his legs began to bother him just to ride in the cart and occasionally putt. He loved to pull out pictures of family and friends from throughout the years at any opportunity. He was a kind, funny, loving man and will be missed by many.

Due to COVID 19, and consistent with Bill's wishes to keep his family and friends safe, we strongly recommend socially distancing during the viewing. Please do not congregate in the viewing area to allow others to come through and pay their respects safely. Visitation MONDAY & TUESDAY , January 25 & 26th from 2-4 and 6-8 at WM. SLATER & SONS, INC. (412-381-3345), 301 Virginia Avenue, Mt. Washington 15211. Service and burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 27 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Sadly, we are unable to have a wake at this time. Instead, a gathering to celebrate Bill's life will occur in spring or summer, giving his family and friends an opportunity to remember and celebrate his life, with stories, photos, and of course, beer. www.slaterfuneral.com
