William David Cornelius

William Cornelius, 77, of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024. Born on July 15, 1947, he was the adored son of Roy Cornelius and Mary Jane Cornelius.

William (aka Bill, Billy C.,Wild Bill, The Wizard, Wiz) was a proud and beloved member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local Union No. 154 Pittsburgh, PA for 37 years. After graduating from the apprenticeship he worked as a journeyman, was an elected health and welfare trustee, served in the National Guard, and was known for his hard work, infectious laughter and unforgettable pranks.

Outside of work, Bill wore many titles - dad, brother, grandpa, friend, custom car enthusiast, professional emcee, comedian and magician. One of his proudest achievements was being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the Pittsburgh Magicians Society. Bill could make anyone smile with his quick wit, playful demeanor, and genuine good heart. He was a master of the room and always left people laughing.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father, and best friend and brother, Donald Cornelius. He is survived by his son, Stephen Cornelius and wife Kathleen Lynch Cornelius, his treasured grandchildren, Graham, Abigail and Oliver, his sister in law Karen Cornelius and his niece, Trisha Wanttja. Bill will be dearly missed as he has the heavens laughing.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 15 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., 15220, (412-563-2800) with the Boilermaker Ritual held at 1:45 pm.

At this time (and in lieu of any flowers), the family is requesting that you tell a ridiculous “dad joke” or play a prank on someone and make their day better for it.
