William G. Boyle passed away Tuesday, October 9, surrounded by his family in Evanston, Illinois, at the age of 85. Devoted and adoring husband of 61 years to Maureen, Bill was a loving father to Erin (Bill) McCune, Megan Boyle, Ann Boyle, and William E. (Sara) Boyle. Bill took special pride in his ten grandchildren: Alaina, Maura, Devin, Derek, Marina, Marcus, Will, Connor, Declan and Siobhan. He is survived by brother Robert (Carol) Boyle and sister Bernadette Delach, and is preceded in death by his father, Gene, his mother, Catherine, his sister, Barbara, and brother, Bernie.
Bill was a life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area, raised in Brookline, and he and his family made their home in Upper St. Clair for almost 50 years. He was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, John Carroll University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1959, Bill loved the law and practiced into his 80s. He worked for local firms Meyer, Unkovic, & Scott, LLP and Riley & Defelice, and most recently, as a sole practitioner. Among other professional distinctions, Bill served as President of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Academy of Trial Lawyers.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Church, a member of the Serra Club, St. Clair Country Club, and a long-time Steeler fan. In 2013, Bill received a Jefferson Award for 30 years of service managing the Pathfinder Bowling League, where adults with special needs could bowl and socialize every Sunday.
The family asks that – in lieu of flowers – donations can be made to help others in need to receive the same compassionate care that was provided for Bill: Contributions can be sent to JourneyCare Foundation, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025 or online at www.journeycare.org
