Wayne Allan Clifton, 79, beloved husband, proud father and grandfather, and pioneer in the field of banking automation, passed away after a brief illness in the early morning of September 29, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Radaker) Clifton; his son, Allan; daughter-in-law Elizabeth; two grandchildren from Poughkeepsie, NY; and his brother Norman of New York City. He will also be missed by his cousins, Gary and Bill Wall; and his longtime friend and hunting partner, JJ Bosley.
Wayne began his career with Mellon Bank in 1963 and rose to the position of Vice President through dedication, skill, and innovation. His role at Mellon necessitated national and international travel but he always said that the place he liked best was home and that his proudest achievement was his family.
Wayne was a good friend, a kind neighbor, and a cherished husband and father. He enjoyed hunting trips each fall with JJ and vacationing with Nancy around the world. He was generous with his time and expertise and could always be counted on to help others. He was an active volunteer at the former Presbyterian Church of Mt. Washington, and was involved in the community in which he and Nancy lived, where he oversaw major projects, consulted on computer issues, and wrote the official newsletter. His sense of humor and quick wit were well known and appreciated by family and friends. There was never a lack of laughter when Wayne was in the group.
