Vivian R. Flaherty

Age 95, of Green Tree, on Monday, January 29, 2018. Beloved wife for 73 years of Jack W. Flaherty; devoted mother of Kathleen (Neil) Toomey, Michael Flaherty (Terri), Beth Ann (Sal) Filardi, Patricia Flaherty, and the late Dennis Flaherty; cherished grandmother of Michael Toomey, Megan Toomey Handerhan (Chuck), and Tara Flaherty Domenico (Ron); beloved great-grandmother of Jack, Kate, and Matthew Mickle, and Gianni, Ava, and Nico Domenico; sister of the late Margaret McCambridge; and daughter of the late James E. and Kathryn (McKenna) West; also special aunt to many nieces and nephews. During WWII, she was a Statistics Specialist for P&LE Railroad, by which she could travel with her railroad pass to meet Jack wherever he was stationed in the US before being deployed to Iceland. She loved her role as mother and grandmother. She was a Girl Scout leader, a magnificent seamstress, and an avid reader. She was a Christian Mother for Holy Innocent's Church and could never be seen without her rosary beads. Vivian was a long time parishioner at both Holy Innocents Church and S.S. Simon & Jude Church. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Vanadium Woods, Broadmore Senior Living and Compassionate Care Hospice.
