Virginia "Ginny" Shaffer Ward

Age 91, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Avonmore, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Thursday, August 13, 2020. Daughter of the late Harvey L. and Esther (Alsippi) Shaffer; loving mother of Bruce (Linda) Ward & Celeste (Michael) Ward-Tamiggi; dear sister of Dorothy (Carl) Fontana, Edward (late Loretta) Shaffer, Ronald (Mary) Shaffer, the late Harvey (late Josephine) Shaffer, Jr., late Gloria (Andrew) Rockisak, late Robert Shaffer, late Mary Louise (Larry) Hinzy, the late Donald (Joanne) Shaffer; treasured grandmother of Michael, Tony, Amy, Melissa, and Andrew; great grandmother to Owen, David, Adalyn, and Lily; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Virginia had a long and successful career in children's fashion merchandising throughout the Pittsburgh region. She was a member of St. Bernard Church, Mt. Lebanon. Ginny was a warm and loving person who was known for her care and generosity towards others as well as her ornate ability to remember everyone's birthdays and special events.
