Virginia M. Matthews

Age 92 of Scott Twp., on Monday, January 7, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Maurice M. Matthews; dear mother of Marilyn (William) Barner, Martin Matthews and Marianne Genovesi; loving grandmother of Angela Genovesi and Melissa Genovesi (Sean Grady); special great-grandmother of Hunter Grady. Virginia was a very active member of Covenant-Community Presbyterian church where she served as a Deacon, Elder and Christian Educator. She was also a scout leader and past president of the Women's Association. Virginia and her husband moved to Pittsburgh in 1950 from Oregon, and she began her working career at Kane Hospital as a rehab therapist for many years. Along with her husband Maurice, she was a longtime active member of Deep Creek Yacht Club. Friends welcomed Friday 6-7 p.m., at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220 where the funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Red Cross, 2801 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
