Virginia Phillip Roby Bodnar

Age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 30, 2024, at Asbury Heights Assisted Living in Pittsburgh, PA, following a short stay. She had previously lived independently for many years in her cherished home, surrounded by wonderful neighbors who became dear friends.

Born on June 12, 1936, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Virginia was the youngest of five children to Clarence Roby and Anagrace Bell Cochran. She was predeceased by her beloved siblings: Gertrude C. Roby (Rukse), Ruth Irene Roby (Daniel), Clarence Cochran Roby Jr., and Anagrace June Roby (West).

Virginia was a proud alumna of Morgantown High School, where she played the drums in the marching band. She went on to graduate from the University of West Virginia with a degree in Marketing. Following her graduation, she launched a successful career with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, PA, where she worked until her retirement in 1986.

On August 9, 1979, Virginia married the love of her life, Walter E. Bodnar (deceased). Together, they created a life filled with love and joy, sharing countless cherished moments. They adored their two chihuahuas, Tinker and Marne, and treasured the camaraderie of their close-knit neighborhood. Virginia, affectionately known as "Dinny," enjoyed traveling with her sister Ruth and shared memorable vacations with Walt in Las Vegas, NV, as well as local outings to the Meadows Casino.

Virginia is survived by several nieces and nephews.
