Valerie Jean "Val" Wentzel

Age 65, of Mt. Washington, unexpectedly, doing what she loved at camp on Friday, October 4, 2013. Beloved mother of Robert (Dana) Wentzel, Dawn Marie (Justin) Friend and Brandon (Yai) Wentzel; loving GaGa of Grant and Deven Reed Wentzel, Parker and Braden Friend; beloved sister of Michael (Sara) Adams, Timothy (Connie) Adams, and April (Jerry) Sides; former spouse of Robert "Bob" Wentzel; special friend of Steve Mathison; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was a good friend to all who knew her. Val was a very accomplished sales person, who won numerous awards and accolades at both Best Western Parkway Center Inn and Mainstay Suites Pittsburgh Airport. Though she loved her job, she also loved nature. You could always find her bird watching, feeding the baby deer in her yard, but most of all, camping. Lazy Acres was her second home. But she never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family. Whether it was cooking dinners for us, or showing up at every function, we could always count on her. She made lasting traditions with her grandsons, whom she lovingly referred to as "her boys", and whom they lovingly called "GaGa". They had tea together and she always made each one of them feel special. Those who knew her well, know she loves her car and Betty Boop. But most of all, her family will remember her saying to "Drive careful! It's the worst holiday of the year!" no matter what holiday it was, and how she never left any of us without a kiss and an "I love you". To say we all will miss her is an understatement.
