Timothy Charles "Timmy" O'Connor, passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 66 in Bethel Park. He was born on June 16, 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Timmy was a man who believed in doing the right thing no matter what. He demonstrated profound courage in his life, work, and leadership. While others would run away from chaos and danger, Timmy would run toward it, always eager to help others. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he leaves behind a legacy of character, candor, and passion.
Timmy was preceded in death by father, Bernard O'Connor, and his mother, Betty Kovac O'Connor. He is survived by his wife Diane Flood O'Connor, son Justin (Lucia) O'Connor, son Thomas "TJ" O'Connor, daughter Emilie (Adam) Mullins, daughter Molly Jones, and grandchildren Noah, Angela, Joseph, and Monica. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Janet) O'Connor, sister Kathy (Jeff) Laslow, and his best friend Reyne Kacsuta.
Timothy attended Carrick High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as Master's Degree from Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed the FBI National Academy.
Timmy proudly served in the Army and had a distinguished military career. After his military service, he dedicated 35 years to the City of Pittsburgh, rising from patrolman to Commander. He then served as the Chief of Police in Bethel Park for 9 years, accumulating a total of 48 years in]n law enforcement. His extraordinary bravery earned him the distinction of being the first Bethel Park Police Officer to receive the "Medal of Valor", the departments highest honor. In an era where faith and law enforcement wavered, Timmy stood resolute, refusing to conform to passing trends and movements against police. He embodied the quintessence of old-school policing.
Family and friends welcome Wednesday & Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Rd, Scott Twp., 15220. Funeral Service Friday, 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial to follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. The family would like to invite all in attendance to the funeral luncheon following the cemetery, The Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive, McMurray PA 15317. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Achieva, located at 711 Bingham St, Pgh, PA 15203. This organization was dear to Timmy's heart, and any support would be greatly appreciated.
