Age 70, of Carnegie, on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Beloved husband of Judith Ann (Yagle) Mattei; son of the late David O. and Ella Vincenti Mattei; loving father of Thomas J. (Tina) Mattei, Jr., Todd C. Mattei and Michael R. Mattei; brother of Diane (Frank) Knitowski and the late David S. (Evelyn) Mattei; brother-in-law of Gary (Carol) Yagle; also survived by six nephews; and one niece. He was a graduate of Old Forge High School, a 1968 graduate Duquesne University Pharmacy with a B.S., 1970 graduate Duquesne University, Pharm D. with Residency in Mercy Hospital, 1988 graduate University of Pennsylvania LDI Fellow in Economics, 1992 graduate Duke University Fuqua School of Business, Executive Management Completion. Tom was the Director of Pharmacy at Mercy Hospital where he advanced through progressive managerial positions culminating as Chief Operating Officer. He was currently Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Division of Clinical, Social and Administrative Services School of Pharmacy at Duquesne University. Previously he served as Associate Dean, Professional Programs and as Chief Operating Officer. As Associate Dean, he developed 14 partnerships with the school and organizations that provide acute ambulatory senior care and community care services as well as an employee wellness program in the Duquesne University Center for Pharmacy Services on Center Ave. He has given more than 150 professional and 25 community presentations. Tom was a runner, skier, golfer, and loved to travel. He loved his work, especially with the underserved, but more than anything, he loved his family.
