Thomas Michael Durr Sr.

March 17, 1945 — July 13, 2024

Mount Lebanon

Thomas Michael Durr Sr aka “Papa” “Big Mike” and “Uncle Mike” on Saturday July 13, 2024 passed unexpectedly. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Elizabeth Ann Durr (Williams) of 57 years. Together they had two sons, Thomas Michael Durr Jr (Nicole) and the late Corey Williams Durr. “Papa” continues to watch over his grandchildren Ashley, Sammy, Sullie, and great grand children; Dylan, Emersyn, and Charlytte whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his sister Nancy Snyder (Harley) and twin Molly Hevia (the late Carlos), and preceeded in death by his parents William Robert Durr, Mary Sennett Durr, and brothers, William Robert Jr., John Sennett and David Arthur Durr. Mike cherished every one of his family and friends.

Mike was a 1963 alumni of Hopewell High School and attended Kent State University and Indiana University. Then he enlisted in The US Air Force and attained the rank of Sergeant. Later he graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Fall, PA.

“Big Mike” devoted his time to youth and coached football, baseball, soccer, hockey and basketball. He made life dedications that included serving his time to the St Vincent de Paul Society and Casa San Jose of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

Mike loved to spend time with his family. He was always happy when everyone was laughing and having a good time movin’ and groovin’. He was a skilled guitar player and outdoorsman. When he was not serving the community or enjoying the company of his family, you could always find him up at his favorite place, The CABIN on French Creek enjoying a fire with bourbon and cigars. He kept up with the Pens, Pirates, and Steelers, and was able to make you smile by cracking a pun. There is never a dull conversation with Mike. He is dearly missed.Family and friends welcome Wednesday, July 17, 2024 2PM-8PM.
