Terry N Bradford, 71, of Collier Township, passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
Terry grew up in Manchester and Dormont with Richard (Jane) Bradford, Donna (Robert) Cunningham, and the late William (Joanne) Bradford Jr and Patricia Pine learning the art of a witty comeback and dodging their practical joke attempts. After graduating from Keystone Oaks High School in 1969, he joined the Navy and traveled the world on the USS Finback nuclear submarine.
Much to his late parents William and Frances Bradford’s chagrin, he married the love of his life Christine (Montgomery) several weeks after their first date in July 1974. Christine will miss her avid travel partner of 49 years, their nightly battle over the TV, his sarcastic “Yes, Dear”, and holding his hand. Their family grew to include George (Anna) Oliver, Brian (Ruth Ann) Bradford, Jennifer (Robert) Manz, and Terry Bradford Jr (Dawn Gordon). Terry was adamant that his kids knew basic automobile maintenance, the importance of earning a dollar, showing kindness to everyone, and to put things back in their place (lest they end up on the front lawn). He also showed his devotion to his kids by volunteering as a Cub Scout leader, baseball/softball coach, Odyssey of the Mind judge, and marching band chaperone. They promise to take care of their mother and also to tease her when the opportunity arises.
In his later years, he turned to spoiling his grandchildren much to the disagreement of their parents. His grandchildren Alexandra (Scott), Samantha (Jeremy), Austin (Kiersten), Danielle, Aiden, George, Lily, Kayla, Rozalin, Kenzi, Auron, and Odin will miss Pappy’s visits to hockey, softball, soccer, karate, and concerts which always culminated in a gallon-sized bag of candy. They promise to always ask Grandma for dessert immediately after dinner.
Terry was a generous, loving, kind-hearted person to everyone he met. Please join us in celebrating Terry’s life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. 15220 (412-563-2800) where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, 9 AM. Afterward, he will be laid to rest with military honors at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 10:30 am.
In keeping with Terry’s desire to help anyone in need, memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans Leadership Program (www.veteransleadershipprogram.org) or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) in lieu of flowers.
