Age 89 of Pittsburgh on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Beloved husband of 41 years to Susan Reck-Mahfood; son of the late George and Bessie Sarkis Mahfood; loving father of Celeste (Kevin) Mulvihill, George (Valerie) Mahfood, John (Vicki) Mahfood and Jacqui (Alex) Reck-Weglicki; brother of Norma (late William) Lindenfelder and the late Dolly (late Corky) Alberts; grandfather of Brendan Mulvihill, Brittany Mulvihill, Marcus Mahfood, Alex Mahfood, Juliet Mahfood, Christina Patterson, M.D.; great grandfather of Jalen Mulvihill, Marcus Mulvihill, and Ella Rose Mahfood. Samuel was retired as Head Steward for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette with 40+ years of service. He was on the Executive Board of the Unity Council and was instrumental in settling the strike of 1991 and was the "right hand man" to the President of the union. He also served as Vice President and Recording Secretary of Local 211 of the Teamsters. When Sam retired he discovered his passion for drawing. Sam attended Carnegie Mellon University (Osher) art classes and as a result his works were published by Osher. Sam shared his talents with all whom he loved. Most importantly, Sam had a tremendous love and dedication to his family and friends.
