78, of Bethel Park, on Monday, March 18, 2013. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, the son of the late Zia (Doug) and Mary Delly Toma. Loving husband of Irene MacEachern Toma; father of Therese (Mike) Edlin, Mark Toma, Diane Toma, Jeff (Fran) Toma, and the late David Toma; granddaughter, Errin Toma; brother, Ghanim Toma; sisters, Madeleine Stephan and Samira Bodagh. He was a scientist for the U.S. Government, having made contributions in the area of Mine Safety technology, Black Lung prevention, and X-Ray technology. He was a graduate of Boston College and the University of Notre Dame. Friends welcome Thursday 6-9 p.m. at FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park (opposite Macy's South Hills Village.) Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Capistran Church. Burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Sam to Little Sisters of the Poor (http://www.littlesistersofthepoor.org/) or the Jesuit Mission (http://www.jesuit.org/support-our-work/)
