Sally Joan Johnston Pardini of Pittsburgh, died on November 23, 2013 at UPMC Passavant Hospital. Ms. Pardini was a retired art teacher and artist. Sally is survived by her husband, William Kincaid of the North Hills; children, Michelle Maher (Robert Barnes) of Wexford, William Maher (Michelle Berberet) of Alexandria, VA, Marcia Geremakis (Perry) of Millstone Twp., NJ; grandchildren, Madeleine, Julia, Emma Barnes, Clair and Will Maher, Caroline and Alexander Geremakis and Ben, her shih-tzu. Sally's previous husbands were John Pardini of Mt. Lebanon, who preceded her in 1996, and William Maher of Upper St. Clair, from whom she is divorced. Sally Joan Johnston was born on March 9, 1931 at Magee- Women's Hospital in Oakland. As an only child, she grew up in Dormont raised by her mother, Doris Johnston and graduated from Dormont High School. Sally enrolled as a scholarship art student at Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University, in the late 1940s, but left before graduation to marry and start a family. Sally returned to Carnegie Mellon in the 1960s as a part time student while raising three children and graduated in 1968. Sally then taught as an art teacher in Mt. Lebanon School District for over 20 years, primarily at Washington School where she painted colorful murals in the hallway. She pioneered team teaching the creative arts with her music teacher colleagues. Sally was a strong supporter of the Mt. Lebanon teachers union. Sally also worked as an artist, showing her works at Carnegie Mellon and the Frick Art Center in Pittsburgh, at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA, and in galleries on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Sally was an expert calligrapher and dress designer. She was a stupendous grandmother and rapturously beloved mother. She traveled extensively by cruise ship in her retirement. Sally was a member of the St. Alphonsus Parish in Wexford and the Delta Delta Delta sorority.
