Ruth M. Henry passed away peacefully on July 28, 2020, at 96 years old. Born in Pittsburgh to the late Frieda P. and Edward J. Maier on June 10, 1924; she lived in Mt. Lebanon most of her life. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Lebanon United Presbyterian Church and graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School. She married E. Blair Henry, Jr. in 1943 and spent the next two years traveling with him to Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Massachusetts while he served in the Army during World War II. She treasured the many lifelong friendships she made during the Army days. After the war, Ruth and Blair returned to Mt. Lebanon to raise their two children. Ruth's life was centered around her family. Her generous spirit, quick wit, and engaging smile helped her to make friends with everyone she met. She lived in the same house for 70 years, and always had an open door and welcoming heart. In the summer, she loved to sit and visit with neighbors (and their dogs) on her front porch. She had a compassionate heart and always looked out for the smallest of creatures, especially delighting in the squirrels and birds who came to her window for treats. Always adventurous, Ruth made wonderful memories traveling around the world. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Paul) Champanier of Olivebridge, NY, and her devoted son Richard (Robin) Henry; six beloved grandchildren, Ellyn (Joe Bonomo) Stewart of Stamford, CT; Emily (Nataraja) Kallio of Boulder, CO; Edward (Sandra) Stewart of Stamford, CT; Courtney (Andrew) Gralnek of Arlington, VA; Rebecca Henry of Carnegie, PA; and Amanda (Brian) Tokarski of Gainesville, VA; and eight cherished great-grandchildren, Isabella, Natasha, Clara, Anjali, Camila, Savi, Ethan, and Emma. In addition, she is survived by her "little sister" Susan Wagner Bergen of New York, NY. Arrangements entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, (412-563-2800), Scott Twp., 15220.
