Age 90, of Green Tree Borough, PA, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday July18 , 2022. Born on January 30, 1932, Daughter of the late Giuseppe Morgano and Rose Morgano (Purpura). Beloved wife to the late Leonard Semplice for 57 years. Loving Mother to Rose Minnette (Ray) Bauman and Len Semplice , Grand Mother to Christopher Bauman, Lisa (Joe) Popek, Great Grand Mother to Rosie and Winston Popek. was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Samuel Morgano, Josephine Rapp, Joseph Morgano, Angeline Palese, MarySchaper, Grace Kujawski, Thomas Morgan, Ross Morgan. In 1973 South Hills Catholic High School was going to discontinue its Hockey team because they didn’t have a person to manage it and raise funds for it to operate and Rose son Len who never played before, signed up to playhockey and Rose seen his love of the sport and that of all his friends so never involved in any sports organization Rose took control as team manager and kept it going for all the kids to be involved. In 1977 Rose bought a Pittsburgh franchise in the New York Penn Major Junior A Hockey League and was the founder and owner of the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins. In 1980 Rosewas elected President of the Western Pennsylvania interscholastic Hockey League and becamethe first female ever appointed to head up a scholastic sport league in Pennsylvania. 2012 Rose was awarded before a sellout crowd at PPG Paints Arena the first Annual Pittsburgh Penguins Founders & Builders Award. Rose enjoyed helping To manage her son Len business Packs & Dogs in Mt. Washington talking and meeting new customers daily. When the business was sold you could find Rose at Paneras on Green Tree Road always dress to a T enjoying talking with her friends and meeting new friends.
Family and friends may pay their final respects at William Slater II Funeral Service (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 on Thursday & Friday from 2 –4, 6- 8 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s of the Mount Church, Grandview Ave, Mt Washington on Saturday 2022, beginning at 10:00 am. followed by a Cristian burial at Calvary Cemetery, Greenfield.
