Roberta “Robbie” (Garner) Masco passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of June 20, 2025, at the age of 80, after a courageous four-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer. She was surrounded by the love and care of her family, just as she had surrounded them with love every day of her life.
Born on November 24, 1944, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Robbie was the beloved middle child of the late Olga and Harry Kenneth “Barney” Garner. She was the cherished sister of the late Kenneth (Donna) Garner and Martha (Daniel) Jarrett. From an early age, Robbie radiated joy, warmth, and a zest for life that never faded.
If you knew her, you knew: she truly loved life. Her daughter often reflected on that love with a mix of awe and admiration, especially during Robbie’s cancer journey. Even in the hardest moments, she would say, “I’m just not ready to die”—a reflection of her enduring love for the everyday beauty and joy of living.
A spirited and smiling cheerleader in high school, Robbie lit up every room she entered. She made friendships over the years that lasted a lifetime.
Robbie met the love of her life, her husband Albert, at just 15 years old. Their early days were filled with dancing, laughter, and memories from shows like The Clark Ray Show and stories of dancing the jitterbug. As anyone could see, their love story was undeniable and enduring.
Robbie’s adventurous spirit and desire to see the world led her to become a flight attendant for United Airlines. With her husband serving in the Navy, she lived in places like Alexandria, Virginia, and Manhattan Beach, California, embracing each new chapter with curiosity and joy.
A lifelong lover of books, the library was one of her favorite places. She passed on her passion for reading, for friendship, and for living with heart to everyone around her. She taught by example the importance of kindness, loyalty, and finding joy in the little things.
Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, and “memaw.” She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whose lives were deeply shaped by her nurturing, her humor, and her presence.
Robbie is survived by her loving husband, Albert Masco, her devoted daughter, Christy Masco, her grandchildren Hannah (Dylan) Crisp and Jade (Kennedy) Woynar, and of course, her favorite loyal pups Rudy, Kendall, and Poppy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews she dearly loved, as well as a circle of extended friends who adored her. She also loved going to church and lunch on first Fridays with her dear friends.
Though we grieve her passing, we are profoundly grateful for the time we had with her. Her love, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
She lived with grace and dignity. She loved everything she had. And she will be forever missed.
