Robert Christopher “Chris” Schnatterly
November 3, 1952 – January 19, 2026
Robert Christopher “Chris” Schnatterly, aged 73, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, service, and devotion to family. Born on November 3, 1952, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Chris was a man of sharp intellect and even greater heart.
Professional Career & Education
A proud alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, Chris earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees there. His career was marked by significant international leadership; he served as the CEO of a German-based steel company, the Managing Director of his own consulting firm, and most recently as the CEO of the startup sleep apnea company.
Even in "retirement," Chris remained committed to the next generation of leaders. He returned to his alma mater to support the Katz Graduate School of Business, donating his time as a "guest CEO" for MBA simulations and case studies.
Faith & Philanthropy
Chris believed deeply in giving back to his community. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as both an Elder and a Deacon. His passion for helping those in need led him to serve for 10 years as Chairman of the Pittsburgh Presbyterian “Hunger Fund,” an initiative he held close to his heart.
A Life Well-Traveled
Chris had a zest for life that took him across the globe. Whether for business or pleasure, he sought out the world’s finest museums, historical sites, and local pubs. Despite his global travels and his affinity for his German heritage—maintained through his membership at the Teutonia Männerchor club—his heart was always at home. When asked about his favorite part of any event or holiday, his answer was always the same: "Being with family."
Family
Chris was the beloved husband of Jean (Whitehill) Schnatterly. He was the devoted father of: Giovanni Berardi (Sharon), Rob Schnatterly (Aneika) and James Schnatterly (Molly).
He is survived by six grandchildren and his seven siblings: Ann Willy (Jim), Robin Pickard (Doug), Nancy Clements (Bruce), John Schnatterly (Cindy), Eric Schnatterly (Sharon), Sara Burford (Robert), and Teri Dunn (Dennis).
