It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our father, Robert Charles Rothdeutsch of Green Tree, 90, on Friday, October 27, 2023. Born on November 2, 1932, on Spring Hill on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Ebitz) Rothdeutsch. Robert was joined in marriage to the love of his life, the late Elizabeth Jane (Gates) Rothdeutsch.
After graduating from North Catholic High School, Robert enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Geneva, NY; Biloxi, MS; Tripoli, Libya, with his final assignment at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico. He left the Air Force with rank of Staff Sergeant and began his 37-year career in air traffic control at Pittsburgh International Airport, retiring as area manager in 1994. In addition to his family, he loved his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and playing golf.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Lynne, son, Eric (Natasha) and daughter, Kathleen (Ray) Cavender and his granddaughters, Meghan Cavender, Vera and Sonia Rothdeutsch. Robert is also survived by his sisters, Rita Darr, Lois Novak, Wilma Heirty, Mary Clare Sapochak, and brothers, Charles and Timothy.
Family and friends are welcome 12:00-3:00 p.m., Thursday, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp. 15220 (412-563-2800). Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, Friday 12:00 p.m. Interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
