Age 69, of Mt. Washington, on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Son of the late Robert Louis and Myrtle Elizabeth (Schmitt) Rectenwald; brother of the late Ronald; survived by sisters and brothers, Verna (Culan-Mike), Janis (Eriksen-John), Diane, Richard and Roy; ten nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great nephews. Bob was a loving and devoted son, a protective brother, a caring and kind uncle and a loyal friend. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam for 13 months. Bob loved the outdoors and fishing. He was an avid reader, he enjoyed history, loved old cars and collected coins. Bob was a real gentleman with a strong character. He was very kind, thoughtful and generous. He always put others first and treated everyone he met with dignity and respect. Doing good deeds was part of Bob's daily life, while never expecting anything in return. Throughout Bob's four year battle with cancer he never once complained along with having rheumatoid arthritis, he never complained. We wish to thank the oncology doctors and nurses of the VA Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion for Bob. Rest in peace, Bob. You will always be in our hearts.
