Robert Middleton Phifer, 92, of Scott Township, passed away on July 22, 2025. He lived a long and happy life. Bob was born in Reading, PA on January 29, 1933, the son of Robert J. and Dorothy Phifer and brother to Eleanor Jeanne McLaughlin. He graduated from Scott High School ‘50, and Grove City College‘54. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in any sport he played. He competed on the varsity golf team in college. After college, he was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. He then had a successful career at Pittsburgh National Bank where he was the Vice President of Operations.
Volunteerism was important throughout Bob’s life. After his retirement Bob volunteered regularly for Meals on Wheels and at St. Clair Hospital.
Bob was a very generous, warm, and friendly person whose life was full of love and laughter. He was a great storyteller and could easily find the humor in any situation. His stories will live on and continue to make us smile.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Carol (Davin), his four children, Robert Charles Phifer, Christine Passen (Steven), Susan Flemming (John), William Phifer (Nancy), 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends welcome Friday, July 25, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 9-10 am at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Rd. Scott Twp. 15220 where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
