Age 86, passed away, Saturday, June 28, 2014 after a sudden illness. A proud son to John and Emma Englert; and loving brother to Walter and Ralph, he loved living on Mount Washington, where as a young boy he delivered newspapers, walked to school, and knew everyone on the "mount". After graduating St. Mary's High School, he spent two adventurous years as a Merchant Marine travelling the world. Upon his return, he joined the family business, J.J. Englert Company, and provided a fresh look to buildings in and around Pittsburgh for many years. As president of J.J. Englert Company, he enjoyed running his own business, and retired after 65 years. His 26 year marriage to Myrna Zipko was a treasured memory, ending in divorce. Proud father of four daughters, Claudia Aller, Rayanne Coy, Kristy Reynolds, and Emily Jennings. Ray was a dedicated provider whose hard work ethic and sense of humor will pass on to his 12 grandchildren. Friends welcome Thursday, July 3, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at WM. SLATER & SONS, INC., (412-381-3345), Virginia Ave. and Kearsarge St., Mt. Washington. Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Mount Church, on Friday, July 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's name to Saint Mary of The Mount Parish, 403 Grandview Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15211.
