82, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Mt. Washington, passed away on September 20, 2013, at Family Hospice in Mt. Lebanon. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude Utzig Kugler; loving father of Linda (late Gregory) Fink, John (Natalie) Kugler and Pamela (Steven) Bronco. He was the proud grandfather of Brian (Amanda) and Kelsey Fink, Michael Kugler and Kate, Abby, and Meg Bronco; and also the great-grandfather of Gregory Cash Fink. Mr. Kugler was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Kugler; and also a son, Albert John Kugler. Mr. Kugler received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (CMU). He also received an executive training diploma at Cornell University. Ralph was originally employed by the Union Switch and Signal Division of Westinghouse Air Brake, and later joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation at their Research and Development Center. Mr. Kugler spent 30 years at Westinghouse Electric at various management positions. During this period, he was granted 11 US patents and various foreign patents. Mr. Kugler was a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers; he was also a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Mr. Kugler was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Castle Shannon for 46 years.
