Philip A. Mitchell Sr. passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on Friday April 21, 2023 at age 90. Phil was born on April 27, 1932 and grew up in Pittsburgh. He often referred to himself as "Cool Phil from the Hill."
Devoted husband of Margaret A. Mitchell, beloved father of Angela, Thomas, and Marlene Miceli, and Philip A. Mitchell Jr. and Joseph (Jeanie) Mitchell, and stepfather to David (Mary Beth) Sapienza, Richard (Karla) Sapienza, and the late Paul Sapienza.
Phil was a loving grandfather (Bubby) to Christian (Kelly), Marc (Addie), Dario, and Natashia Miceli, Dylan and Matthew Mitchell, Mandy (Mark) Wilson, Jim (Emily), Tarey Sapienza and Angela (Brian) Lopez. He is also survived by his brother Nino (Theresa) Mitchell, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 great grandchild.
Phil was an Army veteran. He worked for Allis Chalmers for 25 years, retiring in the late 1970s. A jack of all trades, he spent many years helping family and friends with projects around the house.
Those who knew Phil know that he enjoyed being the center of attention and he always did it his way. He was the life of the party- he loved to sing and dance and make people laugh.
A devote Catholic Phil has gone to be with the Lord. He will be missed by many including his loving dog Midget.
