Perry R. "Dick" Swanson

AGe 84, of Mt. Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Beloved husband of 62 years of Marcia (Harpster) Swanson; loving father of Sherry (Rick) Dandrea and David (Cindy) Swanson; Gramps to Chris Swanson, Kelly (Tom) Plute, Gregory (Austin Blonde), Brian (Mandy), Stephanie and David Dandrea; Pop Pop to four great-grandchildren, Kami, Zack and Kendra Plute and Mason Dandrea. He is survived by his brother, Joe (Judy) Swanson of Nags Head, NC; cousins; and many nieces and nephews. Dick graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School, St. James School and the University of Pittsburgh. He then served in the U.S. Navy. Dick was a member of the Distinguished Service Chapter and the Bridgebuilders of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and the University of Pittsburgh Greek Hall of Fame. He was a member of St. Clair Country Club and a lifelong member of Beverly Heights Church where he served as elder, Sunday School teacher and mentor to many young people through their confirmation process. Dick retired from his business career, in sales, as chairman of Swanson Group, Ltd. He was an golfer and an enthusiastic fund raiser. Dick will be remembered by family and many friends who enjoyed his positive spirit. The family greatly appreciates the care Dick received from Home Instead and Sivitz Hospice.
