Age 72, of Whitehall and previously Bethel Park, died peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2021, surrounded by his family after a long, hard-fought, and courageous battle with leukemia.
Paul was a son of the late Robert F. Bildstein and Marie (Jackson) Bildstein. Paul retired from Fluor Marine Propulsion Corp (Bettis), after 42 years as an engineer and Senior Advisor Engineer.
Paul was usher coordinator for 24 years at St. Thomas More. He also was a funeral coordinator and sacristan at the 8 A.M. weekday Mass. He breaded and sold fish and made lunches for the hungry through St. Thomas More. Often, he was at SHIM, where he sorted food and helped unload trucks, as well as helping with office work. In his free time, Paul enjoyed playing the guitar, swing dancing, and woodworking.
He was the beloved husband of Donna M. Bildstein; father of Alexis (Frank) Schiefer and Robert C. Bildstein; stepfather to Jon (Leigh Ann) Comstock and Cole (Kaitlyn) Comstock; brother of Carrie (Barry) Shepard and Carl (Linda) Bildstein; and Grandpa to Virginia and Paul Schiefer and Papa Paul to Violet, Christian, and Connor Comstock. Also survived by three nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park 15241 (opposite Macy's South Hills Village). A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish. In lieu of flowers, he wished for donations to be made either to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or SHIM Food Bank.
