Patricia (Patty) Rule Kleman passed away on April 16, 2024 at the young age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband John Paul Kleman and her sister Anne Marie (the late Jim) Snyder.
She was born in McKeesport, PA on December 3, 1930 to John and Gertrude (Ward) Rule. Patty graduated from McKeesport High School in 1949 and remained close with many of her classmates; she affectionately referred to them as “the girls”. She was a proud member of the United Steelworkers of America and a former employee of the Continental Can Company in McKeesport. In her BC (before children) days, she had many adventures, from traveling to Mexico where she climbed a pyramid, taking a cruise during the Cuban Missile Crisis to attending JFK’s Inaugural Ball with her sister and brother-in-law. Patty knew how to live life to the fullest.
Patty is survived by her two daughters Miriam McCormack (the late Christopher) of St, Petersburg, FL and Hope Kleman and two grandchildren, William and Amelia Lucas from Ben Avon Heights, PA. Patty was the beloved "Yant" of 6 nieces and nephews: the late Mary Martin, the late Margaret Fugger, James Snyder, John (Sherry) Snyder, Catherine (Lou) Charlip, Owen (Kelly) Snyder. She has 9 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by dear friend Joan Bird-Townley (Dave).
Patty was a friend of Bill W’s for over 50 years and helped countless people work their way through the steps of sobriety. Her humor, wisdom and honesty were a gift to many. We are so grateful for this community and the way they have loved and supported her throughout her life, until the very end.
Patty was an amazing, loving, and selfless friend. She remembered every birthday, anniversary and special event and would call to cry or sing (occasionally off key) console you or make you laugh until your sides hurt, and always let you know you were special. She loved her two grandchildren with all her heart and was a constant presence in their lives. She taught them how to play 500 Rummy and never let them win, even when they were little. She loved the daily phone calls from her friends and family, but we all knew not to call during Jeopardy or on Blue Blood rerun days. She had a very strong Catholic faith and took great comfort in praying the rosary.
