August 30, 1930 - September 12, 2024

Long-time resident of Mt.Lebanon, passed away peacefully and perfectly on Wednesday the 12th. Devoted Daughter, Sister, Niece, Friend, Wife, Aunt, Mother (Daniel, Douglas, and Brian). A human being that faced untold depths of loss and sadness intermingled with boundless joy and blessings, all with resilience and appreciation. She worked as a substitute teacher and in various roles at Buchanan Ingersoll and as a pharmacy clerk. She loved to read (literature to mysteries to book club choices) and play bridge (some sort of Master) and golf (short and straight down the middle) and attend plays (including all of August Wilson). She loved music, especially Sinatra and Armstrong, and even attended several Dylan concerts later in life. She cooked well (potato pancakes!) and loved to eat, ideally with family and friends. She took great pleasure in flowers. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a faithful member of Southminster Presbyterian. She was grateful for the miracle of Life. There will be no viewing and any memorial will be of the inner variety. As Rilke said, The great secret of death, and perhaps its deeper connection with us, is this: that in taking from us a being that we have loved and venerated, death does not wound us without, at the same time, lifting us toward a more perfect understanding of this being and of ourselves.
