Norma "Irene" Franz

Norma "Irene" Franz, 90, formally of Bethel Park, Pa, went to be with the Lord peacefully on August 11, 2018. After a long battle with dementia, the angels have taken her home to be with her husband William D. Franz, Sr, who proceed her in death in 1994.

Daughter of the late William and Margaret Huot, and sister of the late Eleanor Miller, Sylvia Luxbacher and Alice Huot, She is survived by her sister Nancy Martin.

Cherished mother to William D. Franz Jr (Susan) of Canonsburg, and Dianne Grace (Leo) of Pittsburgh. Adored Nana to Heather Jones (Joe), Justin Grace (Laura), Sean Franz, Mark Franz, (Jennifer) and Kathleen Gidas (Michael). Great Grandmother to Hannah and Molly Franz, Jonah, Aubrie, and Oliver Grace, and Keegan and Keira Gidas.

Irene was a special lady who dedicated her life to her faith, family and friends. She was an active member of St Thomas More Parish for 53 years. Her time was devoted to church and school activities, Meals on Wheels and the Oakhurst Garden Club. Her passions were playing cards, bowling and bingo.

A special thanks to those individuals who took care of her over the past years. They became her extended family and they called her Midgie. We will be forever grateful to the nursing staff for their kindness and compassion.

Visitation Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 3 to 7 PM, at Freyvogel Slater Funeral Home, 112 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park, Pa 15241, (across from South Hills Village). Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday August 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM, St Thomas More Church. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
