Age 93 of Green Tree, on Saturday March 18, 2023. Beloved husband for 53 years to the late Mary Ann (Ozimek).  Devoted father of Mark (Cindy) Shaw of Mt. Lebanon and Dianne (Chris) Serakowski of Green Tree. Loving grandfather of Evan and Adam Serakowski. Preceded in death by siblings Anna (Burkard) Baer, Marie (Michael) Scarpino, Madeline Robear, Joseph (Hilda) Sawczenko and Clara (Hollis) Neefe. A proud veteran of the US Army, he served in the Korean war. After service, he was a Carpenter for the Greater Pennsylvania Carpenters Local 230 until his retirement. Nicholas was a parishioner of St Margaret of Scotland and a member in the St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 40 years. He loved meeting fellow retirees for coffee at Einstein Bagels and Panera Bread and will be remembered for his good nature, sense of humor and smile. The family would like to expressly thank Gateway Hospice for the care they provided at home in the final weeks and extended family and friends that came to visit. Family and friends are welcome Wednesday 2-8 p.m., WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Green Tree Road, Scott Township, 15220. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, 10 a.m. Thursday. Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1501 Reedsdale St. #3003, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
