Nellie (Wojtaszek) Mellon of Westwood passed away peacefully Wednesday March 16, 2022 in The Sheridan at Bethel Park.. Born in 1934 to proud Polish parents from Pustkof, Nellie was the 18th child of 19. She was the wife (married 63 years) of William Mellon who preceded her in death in 2016. She is survived by her children Steve Mellon and his wife Jackie of Navasota, Texas; Eugene Mellon and his wife Dorothy of Carnegie, PA; and Nell Mellon and her husband James Riti of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Mellon of Pittsburgh, Andy Mellon of Pittsburgh and Aniela Riti of Brooklyn. She is also survived by Floyd Wojtaszek of Ft. Myers FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins both here and in Poland. Nellie grew up as both a tomboy and perfectly sharp-dressed young lady. She helped her brothers win pigeon races, rode horses, loved dancing and gymnastics, but her real talent was art. She spent Saturday mornings taking a trolleycar to Pittsburgh Art Institute. She painted portraits for family members and personalized many everyday objects with her special artistic touch. She was preceded in death by her husband, 17 siblings (including 5 brother that fought and returned from WW2). She grew up in Elliot, attended Guardian Angels, then Langley (class of 53). She worked at Bell Telephone and The Sheridan at Station Square. She was proud to be Polish and kept in touch with her family there. She loved her family most, then Bingo, taking care of her flower garden, and baking and decorating cakes. She was kind and always thinking of others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
