Mildred Sullivan Staub, a long-time Upper St. Clair resident, loving mother and business leader, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, at the age of 98. Mildred “Millie” was born in Pittsburgh on September 24, 1925, and was the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Sullivan.
She graduated with honors from Langley High School in the West End. Leveraging her exemplary math and planning skills, Millie had a brief career at Bank of America before marrying the love of her life, Eugene J. Staub, Jr., a former classmate and returning soldier from the European theatre of World War II. Together, Millie and Eugene built a highly successful remodeling and construction company that is entering its fourth generation.
A resident of Upper St. Clair for over seventy years, Millie was both a community pioneer and family matriarch. An avid reader and accomplished bridge player, she enjoyed any opportunity to laugh, share a favorite dessert or give back to family and friends. Millie will be remembered for her warm and friendly personality, high intellect, positive attitude, compassion and love of all things Irish. In addition to her numerous talents, Millie will be remembered for her unwavering love as a full-time caregiver to her parents, father-in-law, and husband, Eugene.
Millie is survived by her four children, Dan Staub (Pat Vance), her twins, Karen Skrainy (Gerry) and Ken Staub (Paulette), and Gary Staub (Pat), as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She will be greeted in heaven by her husband of 55 years, Eugene, her parents Lawrence “Fleur” and Mary “Mae” Sullivan, her in-laws Eugene “Jake” and Barbara “Bee” Staub, as well as her loving brother, William Sullivan, and his wife, Madelyn.
