Mildred R. Mamone

Mildred Rose (Boccardi) Mamone, 91, of Pittsburgh, departed this life to enter the life of eternity Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. She was welcomed home by her beloved husband, Bruno Domenic, who passed away in 2004, and her parents and family reunited once more, free at last of the pain of her earthly body. Born Sept. 25, 1921, Mildred was a resident of Weatherwood Manor for the last five years. Mildred was the last surviving child of Giustino and Lena (De Paolo) Boccardi. She was the sister of the late Frank Boccardi, Raymond Boccardi and Anthony Boccardi; sister-in-law of Margaret Boccardi; beloved mother of Frank Charles and his wife, Linda Mamone, of San Clemente, Calif., and Vincent Joseph and his wife, Teresa, of North Huntingdon; survived by 12 grandchildren, Jim Mamone, Frank Mamone Jr., Shane Mamone, Travis Mamone, Tara Reading, Noelle Nieporte, Brandon Mamone, Trevor Mamone, Jordan Mamone, Lindsay Feldt, Vincent M. Mamone and Michelle; also 30 great-grandchildren; surviving are her cousins, Marie De Paolo Bradish and Josephine Tortorella De Paolo; also nephews, Chuck and David Martino, Raymond and Tony Boccardi; and a niece, Lena. Mildred loved to prepare, cook and serve to any that came to her home many homemade meals throughout her life. The last few years, she would write down homemade recipes in letters and send them to her family members. In September of 2011 a 90th surprise birthday party was hosted for her and all of her family and friends attended to her great joy. Cherished memories were recorded. The family wishes to extend much thanks and appreciation to the staff at Weatherwood Manor for the compassionate care and outstanding service they gave to Millie for the years she lived there. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. If desired, memorials may be made to the Weatherwood Manor Activity Fund, 890 Weatherwood Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601.
