Michael Joseph Grusch, 76, of Collier, formerly of Knoxville.
On Tuesday, February 20, Mike left us peacefully but way too soon after an extended illness. Born October 25, 1947 to his parents Mary and Edward. Known as “Mickey” to some, Mike recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife Linda. Dear father of Kate Walsh (Patrick), Julie (Mike Gibson), and the late Danny Grusch. Enjoyed many happy times with his kids and grandchildren Bailey and Jackson Gibson; Mary Claire, Michael (MJ), and Charlie (Charlotte) Walsh. Brother of Helen Lauda of Lehigh Acres, FL, and the late Edward Grusch. Special cousin to Mary Ann Flaherty. Uncle of Barbara Martin and Eddie Grusch. Brother-in-law of Kathy Hammer (Vince) and Patti Murphy (Don Larizza). Also uncle to Mike Hammer (Kathy) and Andrew (Allison) Hammer, and their children Halle (Luc Fondelier), Casey (Meghan), Eli and Ryan. They, along with many other relatives and friends, will fondly remember and greatly miss the unique sense of humor and perspective that Mike brought to everyday situations, and his super easygoing nature.
After attending St. Canice elementary and high schools, Mike served as a sergeant in the US Army in Vietnam. He then worked at the former Sears-Roebuck warehouse in Lawrenceville. Mike went on to work for Verizon and retired in 2010.
A longtime Steeler season ticket holder, Mike faithfully watched their games on TV in later years. He liked traveling with friends and playing pinocle. Most of all, he cherished time with family and friends.
