Michael R. Chergi

August 6, 1940 — February 8, 2013

Of Pittsburgh, surrounded by family and friends, passed peacefully at 72, on Friday, February 8, 2013. Beloved husband of Gerry A. Chergi; loving father of Michelle (Bob) Monte and Stephanie Chergi; son of the late Michael R. Chergi, Sr. and Anna (Sawchak) Chergi; dear brother of Carol (Victor) Zakowski and the late Edward Chergi.

Mr. Chergi was a retired police sergeant for the City of Pittsburgh, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, member of American Legion Post #0945 and F.O.P. Ft. Pitt Lodge #1. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Friends welcome Sunday 5-9 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. Blessing Service 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA on Tuesday at 12:30. If going to the cemetery meet at funeral home at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Family Hospice & Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pgh., PA 15234.
