On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, age 83, of Green Tree, formally of Carnegie, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Son of the late Anthony and Helen Oliver, loving husband of Virginia (Mathe), father of Debra (Jeff) Midgley, David (Brenda) Oliver, Diane (Steve) Schwartzmiller, Donald (Dawn) Oliver, Dana (Steve) Bonnett, and Daniel (Michelle) Oliver. Brother of Richard (deceased), Louise Klapach (deceased), Francis, Carol Pratt, Mary Ellen Furar, Margaret Quinn, and Barbara Aleski. Loving Pap to Jeffrey, Lisa, Ross, Max, Tony, and Matthew Midgley; Dezzarea, Deena, and Donald Schwartzmiller; David, Michael, and Samantha Oliver; Amber, Erin, and Shane Bonnett; and Emily and Daniel Oliver. Great-grandfather to Mya, Wesley, and Sloan. Matthew served proudly during the Korean War. He was in the grocery business all of his life and was co-owner along with his brother Richard of the Carnegie IGA for 20 years. He loved his Pittsburgh sports teams and took great pride in maintaining a well-groomed lawn and garden. Most of all he loved his family. Matthew will be forever loved and missed. Special thank-you to the Bethany Hospice Team and his caregiver and daughter-in-law Brenda. Family and friends welcome Sunday, December 17, 2017, 1-6 pm, William Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township. Mass of Christian burial Monday 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Green Tree. Everyone please meet at the church. Internment private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
