Martin J. Link Sr., son of the late Robert and Regina (Calmus) Link, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was born in January, 1944, and was a proud resident of Mt. Washington his entire life. He graduated from Saint Mary of the Mount High School, and was deeply rooted in his hometown. He loved all sports, especially the Steelers. For several years, he coached baseball at Skookum Field, and since then through the years, his team members still referred to him as “Coach” or Mr. Link. His impact on the community will be remembered for generations to come, he was well known throughout the area, and was loved by so many.
Marty treasured his family and could not have been prouder of his children. Although he was confined to a wheelchair in the past years, he still considered himself the luckiest man alive. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his wife Diane C. (Redlinger) Link, the love of his life for 57  years, and their five children, Denise Link Burkert, Martin J Link Jr., Brian (Tracy) Link, Nadine (Jeff) Richter, and Tammy (Anthony) Fazio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Summers, Jared (Katie) Link. Jaimie Link, Ashley (Chris) Direnzi, Ryan Burkert, Tyler (Brittany) Burkert, Damian, Darian, Dalton, Delanie, Abby (Jack) Young, Danny Weber, and Case Richter. His life was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren; Ben, Kate, Claire and Max Direnzi, Evelyn, Ellery, Lincoln and Enola Summers,  Addilin Link, Viviana Link, and Anubis Wilson.  Martin was also survived by his brother Paul (Maryann) Link. Martin was preceded in death by seven siblings, as well as two granddaughters, Juliann and Jennifer. 
Martin will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Please join us in honoring the life of Martin J. Link, Sr. as we remember the love, laughter, and joy he brought into our hearts and lives. Family and Friends are welcome to celebrate his life at WM SLATER & SONS INC. (412-381-3345) 301 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington, 15211 on Thursday, October 5th from 6-8 pm; and Friday October 6th from 2pm-8pm. A Catholic mass at Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Saint Mary of the Mount Church will be on Saturday, October 7th at 10am. Burial will be private to the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to (Martin Link Memorial Deck Fund) or Saint Mary of the Mount Church.
