Age 86, of Upper St. Clair, on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Ines Arrondo Hess; son of the late Eugene and Elsa Kahn Hess; father of Inez Hess of McCandless, Caroll Ersek of North Hills, and Philip (Marika) Hess; grandson, Steven Hess; and many nieces and nephews. Martin was a generous, hard working and kind man with a huge heart. He supported his family here and abroad. He taught all those who had the honor of knowing him the importance of perseverance, honesty and dignity. He loved life and fought relentlessly through all of his medical conditions. He never once complained and always said he was "good" when asked how he felt when he was so very ill. He was a joy to know and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thank you to all who supported and cared for Martin during the last year of his life. He would not have been in a better place than the Grand Residence of Upper St. Clair during the last month of his life. He was our rock. We love you "Pap", Rest In Peace. Dr. Martin graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He received a Master's degree from Carnegie Mellon and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Friends welcome Monday 1-3, 6-8 p.m., FREYVOGEL - SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park (Opposite Macy's South Hills Village).
