Age 84, on Thursday, November 24, 2022, of Whitehall, formerly of Brentwood. Wife of 56 years to the late Henry “Hank” Bronder; mother of Michael Bronder (Janet), Mark Bronder (the late Leslie), and Walter Bronder (Anita); born in Mt. Oliver and daughter to the late Elmer and Marie (Bernthaler) Belsterling; exceptionally proud grandmother of Sarah Decker (Dan), John Bronder (Nirali), Brian Bronder (Kate), Kristen Cherish (Nick), Nicole Bronder, Nicholas Bronder (Brittney), and Jacob Bronder (Kelly); greatgrandmother of Sloane, Harper, and Jackson Cherish, Charlotte Decker, and Joya Bronder; loving sister of the late Ralph Belsterling (surviving JoAnne), Herbert Belsterling (Barbara), and Howard Belsterling (Margaret); and special aunt to 13 nieces and nephews who were always special to her due to their caring way and offers of assistance. Marie graduated from St. Joseph School in Mt. Oliver and following graduation she was employed by Equitable Gas Company as a private secretary. She was an enthusiastic and willing volunteer and taught CCD at St. Sylvester Church and served as President of Moore School PTA for 2 terms. Marie served as Secretary of the Friends of Brentwood Library, was a member of the Brentwood Borough School Board for 8 years where she served as Secretary and President, and was appointed to the Brentwood Borough Planning Commission. She was the owner of Bronder’s Ceramic Studio for 20 years. Following her retirement, she worked at Spartan Pharmacy. Marie was an authentic person throughout her life and enjoyed gardening, crafts, and her grandchildren. Family time was the most precious to her. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, November 29, 7-9 PM and again on Wednesday, November 30, 2-4 and 6-8 PM in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., 412-563-2800. Funeral Mass, Thursday, December 1, 10:30 AM in St. Sylvester Church, 3754 Brownsville Road, Brentwood. Those who prefer to meet at church may do so. Interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to Brentwood Library, Brentwood EMS, St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
