A resident of Oakdale, PA and Ashville Bay, NY (Chautauqua Lake). Malcolm was formerly a resident of Scott Township for 50 years. He passed away at the age of 86, on July 11, 2012 in Erie, PA. Mal is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary E. Bruce (Smith); and his daughter, Deborah J. Bruce Wilsher; he is survived by his loving wife and companion of 13 years, Eleanor Joslin; daughters, Susan Benvenuti (Peter), Camille Bruce, Bridget Bruce; and son, Frederick (Janna) Bruce; he has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; he is also survived by sisters, Mary Lynch and Judy Hopkins. Born in Ferndale, MI on February 21, 1926 he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944 and immediately joined the United States Navy. He proudly served in the Pacific Fleet during World War II. After the war, he joined Rockwell Standard in the Plant Personnel Department in Chelsea, MI. In 1956, he moved his family to Pittsburgh, PA to join the corporate office of Rockwell International where he ascended to the position of VP of Labor Relations. In 1973, he left to join AVM Corporation where he was a Vice President until his "retirement" in 1986. Malcolm's expertise in labor relations were in high demand so he launched a successful consulting career that continued until he was 75 years old. Malcolm was also certified as a SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). He mediated numerous labor disputes in the public sector. From 1988-1996 he was a Township Commissioner for Scott Township. He was also a member of the American Legion. Malcolm extensively traveled the world. In his years with Eleanor, they visited numerous domestic and international destinations. He had many great friends in Pittsburgh and "at the lake" where he and Eleanor spent much of their time. Mal was a dedicated husband, father, friend, and public servant and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation on Sunday, July 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SVC, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., 15220. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16 at the funeral home followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
