86, died after a long illness on Saturday, February 14 in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania. She was born in Pittsburgh on December 15, 1928, to the late Otmar and Mary Alverda Entress Eichenlaub, but lived most of her adult life in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She is survived by Frank John Hynes of Darby, PA, her husband of 62 years; son Bruce (Kathleen) Hynes, daughters Beth (Mark) Pickering , Barbara (Robert) Myers , and Bev (Dan)Collins; grandmother of Emily (Ryan) Samuels, Mary Hynes, Christopher Pickering, Kevin (Jeanne) Pickering, Robert Myers, Christine Myers, Bailey Collins,and Ryan Collins. Great Grandmother of Elley and Hannah Samuels and Michael Pickering. Alverda was a devoted Catholic, and was a long-time member of Saints Simon and Jude parish in West Chester, PA, where she was a cantor. Alverda loved visiting with family and her wide network of friends. Frank and Alverda traveled widely in their RV beginning in the 1960's with family vacations. During retirement they wintered in Pharr, Texas. Alverda owned and directed several nursery schools in the Philadelphia area from the early 1970's to the late 1990's, and she adored all of the little ones she taught. Her other interests included square dancing, girl scouts, ceramics, music and entertainment. Family will greet friends in the vestibule of the church Saturday February 21st 2015 from 12:15-1pm with a funeral mass at 1pm in St. Thomas More Church Bethel Park Pa.
