Lynn Ellen Jaquiss

d. May 27, 2021

Lynn Ellen Jaquiss passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27. The Pittsburgh native was born on February 3, 1935 and lived in West View during her formative years, where she listened to The Dips roller coaster at West View Park as she went to sleep each night. The only child of Chester (C.V.) and Ruth Harbison, who met at Dance Land while listening to the big bands. Lynn graduated West View High School in 1953. She worked as a flight attendant for TWA during the golden age of air travel and as an executive secretary at ALCOA Corporation. In 1958, she married Lawrence Grotstein with whom she had two children, Todd and Lauri. She later worked in the burn unit of Mercy Hospital, where she met G.W. Jaquiss (Jaq), her second husband. Lynn lived most of her adult life in the South Hills (Green Tree and Mt. Lebanon), and for many years, she worked as a medical secretary in Jaq's otolaryngology office, where she had a knack for helping his patients feel they were part of the family. After Jaq's passing in 1998, Lynn found love again with Richard E. Nassar Sr., with whom she spent many winters in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Lynn was a lover of animals and art, which she combined in her watercolor Christmas cards, beloved by many. Known for her beauty and impeccable sense of style, Lynn was a gifted storyteller with a great sense of humor, which stayed with her until her final days. Her warm laugh and spirit will be missed by all she encountered. Lynn is survived by her five children, Todd Grotstein (Lisa), Julie Jaquiss-Collins (Dan), Anne Jaquiss (David Pyle), Lauri Grotstein Gravina (David), and John Jaquiss (Heather); her grandchildren, Jaq and Scott Pyle, Maia and Lucas Gravina, and Macie Grotstein. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Animal Friends. Arrangements are entrusted to WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, Scott Township, 412-563-2800.
