Of Mount Washington, age 90, died peacefully Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was the beloved father of Patricia of Mount Washington, Joseph (Lorraine) of Bethel Park, Louis of Pittsburgh, James (Leah) of Upper St. Clair, and the late infant Carol Ann; he is also survived by grandchildren, Brendan, Shannon, Sheamus, Riley, and Declan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Tighe Moorhead; his mother, Mary Trax Moorhead; and father Earl P. Moorhead; his sisters, Dolores (the late John) Bell, Patricia Moorhead; and brother, William Moorhead. Lou was born November 25, 1931, and lived in Swissvale until he moved to Mount Washington to raise his family. He was a graduate of Swissvale High School and Waynesburg University, where he attended on a football scholarship. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Army. He was a longtime coach of the JFK Youth Football Team (the Marines) on Mount Washington. He retired in 1992 from Dominion (Peoples) Gas Company, where he was manager of accounting. Despite his health issues in later years, he enjoyed visiting the areas he grew up in with long drives with his daughter and his beloved pet dog, Pompy. He was proud of his Irish heritage, and enjoyed singing and entertaining at family gatherings. Family and friends welcome Wednesday 2-8 p.m. WM. SLATER & SONS, INC.
